Steve Nicholls

Steve has been making wildlife films for 25 years. He has a PhD in entomology and is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society. He has never lost his passion for the smallest creatures that share our world and was series producer of the BBC’s acclaimed Alien Empire, which gave him a chance to travel the world in search of amazing bugs – though he’s equally happy filming charismatic mammals or exotic plants. He has produced and directed a wide variety of films for international broadcasters, including Discovery and National Geographic on subjects ranging from the deep ocean to the lives of Sami reindeer herders. Recently, he has published a book, Paradise Found, on the past abundance of nature, focussed on North and Central America.

This year Steve has ventured into the world of 3D in a celebration of ‘bugs’ – insects, spiders, millipedes, centipedes and their relatives.  He’s recently returned from Mexico where he was filming the famous migration of the Monarch butterfly in 3D.
