Folly Farm, A Beautiful Place to Stay

by BristolWildFilm on April 2, 2008

The 3 day Introduction to Wildlife Filmmaking course is based at Avon Wildlife Trust’s Folly Farm Centre set amid a stunning 250 acre nature reserve in North Somerset’s beautiful Chew Valley. More than 100 acres of the reserve is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of the national significance of its wildlife habitats and species, especially its ancient woods, wildflower meadows, bats, butterflies and barn owls.

Folly Farm Centre provides a high standard of accommodation with comfortable and spacious bedrooms that overlook the nature reserve and Chew Valley Lake. The centre was opened in May 2008 after a £3 million restoration and redevelopment of the Georgian farmhouse at the heart of the nature reserve. The centre is powered by a bio-mass boiler and bio-paints have been used throughout.

Meals are home-cooked using organic, locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are eaten in the Dairy Restaurant and tea, coffee and snacks are provided mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
